Sandhornøya, Norway
These two words: nomadic and shelter, reflect the very needs of the people from Nordic traditions. The intervention is to create a very basic shelter for fire, sleep and meetings. Timber boxes are stacked sequentially to form a sleeping cabin. A series of timber boxes, designed to the dimensions of a comfortable area for sleeping and seating, are stacked around the fire as a sleeping shelter, opening new possibilities of gathering and living.

'Stacking' sequence of assembly
Through combining different box sizes the interior space becomes vivid and appropriable, yet some of the levels are more suitable to serve as benches or chairs. While the building is meant to be temporary, it is easy to transport, expand or mass produce; not only hosting nomads but being nomadic itself.

1:1 Module Mock ups
Working in a group of five from different parts of the world, we learned that the most effective method of working was to engage with the beach and draw around our bodies in the sand, and engage with the tools and materials by building our ideas to its true size.
By using our bodies and actions as the words and sentences that we all understood as the common language, we accomplished something simple and beautiful: a place for people to gather and enjoy each other’s company, and a place that illustrates our culture, knowledge, and identities.
